Abstract

The article is focused on current European approaches to time margins in railway transport. It presents new trends in the placement of margins during the construction of timetable. The margins offer space for delays reduction, or may prevent delay transmission on other trains, thereby providing greater stability and quality of the timetable. With the increasing utilisation of infrastructure in the large agglomerations is needed to deal with the dilemma.
