The paper deals with an issue of the awarding of public service. The first part of paper analyzes the requirements of Regulation (EC) No 1370/2007 on public passenger transport services by rail and by road. The second part of paper provides a recommended procedure of the awarding of public service. The procedure consists of four steps: identification of aims, contract drafting, contract awarding and monitoring.
